About Strong Voices
Everywhere in the world disabled men, women and children are subject to isolation, exclusion and lack of access to education and employment. As a result, living conditions among disabled people is systematically lower than among non-disabled people, and the situation is at its worst in poor countries. At the same time, disabled people’s ability and freedom of speech is often very limited in developing countries. Change, however, is possible.
Through the blog Strong Voices, disabled men and women in NAD’s networks in Africa and the Middle East share their stories and images of their everyday lives. They describe their experiences of resistance and obstacles, but also tell stories of how they fight prejudice and break barriers in their fight for an independent life and for improved rights for disabled people.
The blog is produced with support from Norad.
